Hooray! Made it to North Carolina. One state down, 13 more to go...The A.T. in North Carolina and Tennessee runs right along the border of the two states. He will be experiencing the Great Smoky Mountains and facing the highest point of the trail called Clingman's Dome which is 6,643 ft. To complete the two states, he will have to trek about 371 miles. Therefore, it will be a while before I'm shouting hooray again! We spoke briefly today; poor reception. Hiked with a group to Muskrat Creek Shelter just over the border. The stay in town, meeting up with a group, and crossing a border made for a happy young man today.
